About Us
We are a group of amateur sports people who participate in competitive target shooting at a local, national and international level.
We are affiliated to the National Rifle Association of UK. Our members make up the Yorkshire county team and we run two open prize meetings per year.
Fullbore target shooting is with 7.62mm rifles at distances from 200 to 1000 yards. Several ranges are used across the north of England, plus the historic ranges at the National Shooting Centre, Bisley.
Our members range from the social sportsperson up to captains of Great Britain and England teams, winners of major individual prizes such as HM Queen’s Prize and the equivalent overseas. Our county team competes in matches in the north and at Bisley. Naturally we have a very friendly but strong rivalry with Lancashire.
We have rifle clubs affiliated to the YRA who compete against each other in two events: the Astor, and the Bingham Shield.
